Eleanor sees children, adolescents, and adults.
As part of the J&R team since 2020, I work with clients of all ages.
Many of the clients I see are younger adults (~18-35) who want to better understand themselves, develop self-compassion for their unique brains and the history that shaped them, and learn ways to improve their quality of life.
I emphasise trauma-informed, culturally safe, and neurodiversity-affirming care, and particularly enjoy working with people who have experienced trauma and those wanting support with managing anxiety. We will take an active approach to your psychological treatment, working as a team to develop new skills and help you work towards your goals, while also helping you understand how your brain adapted to survive and make sense of your environment throughout your life, and the impacts of this that we can work to change now.
My approach is tailored to each individual, collaborative, and evidence-based. I draw upon several therapeutic approaches, most often Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema-Focused Therapy, Imagery Rescripting, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), metacognitive therapy, and mindfulness techniques; and for children, teenagers, and families, I often use ACT and the Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) framework.
I’m often told that I have a warm and grounding presence in the therapy space. You will also find me using humour in sessions, and overall, I emphasise creating a safe, non-judgemental therapy space, where you can feel freely, reflect openly, and grow through even the most difficult times. I see clients four days a week (Mon, Wed-Fri) from both our West Perth and Como clinics.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me with my nose in a good book, trying a new dinner spot, or planning my next travel adventure.
Areas I can support you (or your child) with include:
- Posttraumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, and other trauma-related concerns
- Anxiety (including generalised worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, and phobias)
- Self-awareness, self-compassion, and values-based living for Autistic & ADHDer young people and adults
- Sleep problems
- Adjustment difficulties following life changes
- Self-esteem and self-compassion
- Stress, burnout, and perfectionism
- Emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties
- Parenting challenges
- Grief and adjustment to health-related concerns
- Depression and other mood disorders
I do not work with clients with primary concerns in substance use, eating disorders, or anger management difficulties, nor do I perform diagnostic assessments for ADHD or Autism, or provide court reports or conduct legal assessments. I am happy to help you find another psychologist who can support you with these needs, should they arise during your treatment.
Clinical Supervision
I am also a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor and offer individual (in-clinic or online) supervision for psychologists, including those needing a supervisor for their clinical psychology registrar program. I can provide supervision for clients across the lifespan, and will tailor supervision to your needs, while also holding in mind PsyBA requirements. I take a reflective practice approach to supervision, aiming to support the development of your clinical skills while also recognising your own emotional responses, while staying grounded in ethical decision-making and evidence-based approaches to treatment.
